An original tale inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk, the film was originally set to release in November 2018, but a delay until 2020 signalled the difficulty Disney was having getting the project off the ground. LeFauve, of course, was part of the initial writing team for Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel;however, she had to leave the project in order to focus her attention on very big. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the House of Mouse has ceased production on huge, their animated take on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story. Yet, this is exactly what has happened with huge, ex-Giants, the new film from Nathan Greno, director of the excellent Rapunzel.

The next Disney Animated film in line is Wreck-It Ralph 2 which comes out November 21, 2018. The project, first announced at the 2015 D23 Expo, was to be directed by TANGLED's Nathan Greno. He hatches a grand plan with Inma, a 60-foot-tall, 11-year-old girl, and agrees to help her find her way home.

"It is impossible to know, when we start a project, how the creative process will evolve and, a few times, regardless of the passion that inspires us, or our love of the topic, it simply does not work".

No details yet on which film will take Gigantic's place in the lineup, though the report notes that it is another original feature.

Disney Animation next has Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, which is set to open November 21, 2018, and Frozen 2, which is slated to bow November 27, 2019. We've come to that point, and although it's a hard decision, we are ending active development for now.

Catmull also mentions that Disney will be focusing on "another project that has been in the works, which we'll be sharing more about soon, now set for Thanksgiving 2020".
