Once they left, Sivan says Weinstein leaned in and tried to kiss her. Sivan rejected that attempt and told him she had a long-term boyfriend.

Bloom, who says she has known Weinstein for about a year since her book "Suspicion Nation" was optioned for a film, defended him this week in an interview with "Good Morning America".

Davis declined to comment through his office.

Harvey Weinstein said his British fashion designer wife was standing by him "100 per cent" over accusations of sexual harassment as it was reported he is to be suspended from his film company.

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump was asked by a reporter what he thought about the Weinstein scandal.

On Friday evening, Page Six published speculation by "insiders" that the Weinstein Company's co-founder, brother Bob Weinstein (who remains), may have fed the first details of sexual harassment allegations to the New York Times in a plot to ouster his brother.

The board members who resigned include billionaire Dirk Ziff, a managing partner at Ziff Capital Partners, as well as Marc Lasry and Tim Sarnoff.

Shortly after he said his short and sweet piece about Weinstein, he tweeted a farewell and headed off to North Carolina, telling everyone that big progress is being made on many fronts.

Trump's comments were also made one day after Weinstein took an indefinite leave of absence as the co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, the hit-producing Hollywood studio.

"The New York Times published today a story that is saturated with false and defamatory statements about Harvey Weinstein", attorney Charles J. Harder said in a statement. She added that she was happy women have come forward with their allegations.

"The Times editors were so fearful they were going to be scooped by New York Magazine and they would lose the story, that they went ahead and posted the story filled with reckless reporting, and without checking all they had with me and my team", Weinstein continued.

Sivan claims she has had no further contact with Weinstein since the incident.

When the scandal broke Thursday, some of the public criticism against Weinstein was also directed at Bloom for her decision to advise the producer.

Bloom has in the past represented women who brought sexual harassment claims against Bill Cosby and the former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly. "I appreciate the way I've behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it", he said.
