Developer Ninja Theory has announced that on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, all proceeds from the sales of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice for the day will go to a UK-based mental health charity.

In an effort to continue raising awareness around the issue, each and every sale of Hellblade will be donated to Rethink Mental Illness. The game was designed with mental illness in mind (seriously, no pun intended), therefore sought to reimagine what it must be like. "We are delighted to be supporting this important work with this donation". The group wants to help those affected by the invisible illness by challenging and changing attitudes.

While the representation of mental illness is many video games is relegated to "psycho" villains and other harmful tropes, Hellblade takes a fearless look at what it's like to live with psychosis through the eyes of its protagonist Senua. The trailer itself combines photos taken by players using the game's photo mode with comments from players and fans who have struggled with mental health problems.

Beyond this, Ninja theory are celebrating the reception that Hellblade received with an accolades trailer that does something a bit different. If you've been holding back on picking it up, today is the flawless opportunity to grab an excellent game and do some good.

Despite being praised by many critics for its presentation and themes, Hellblade's newest trailer features quotes that were sent to the developer from players themselves.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is available now on PC and PS4.
