Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says that investigators still have not pinpointed the shooter's motive behind his decision to fire on a concert crowd in Las Vegas on October 1 and kill 58 people.

At least 23 guns - 12 of which were equipped with bump-stocks, or rapid fire devices - were found inside Paddock's hotel room.

That Campos was shot prior to concertgoers represents a shift in the mass shooting timeline, Lombardo confirmed Monday.

Paddock shot and wounded a security guard who came to his floor at the Mandalay Bay hotel to investigate an open door down near Paddock's suite, Lombardo said, providing new details on what occurred immediately before the mass shooting.

The security guard, Jesus Campos, was shot in the leg by some of the more than 200 rounds that Paddock fired into the hallway.

Paddock had a document in the room with him that contained numbers, Lombardo said, adding he could not immediately say what objective the figures served. Scribbled on it were numbers, the officers said, that suggested Paddock had calculated his trajectory before opening fire.

"This individual purposely hid his actions leading up to this event, and it is hard for us to find the answers", said Lombardo, who agreed he was frustrated with the speed of the investigation. "We believe he made a decision to take the lives he did and he had a very purposeful plan that he carried out".

There is still no evidence Paddock was motivated by ideology, or that there was another shooter, he said.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/2yzrWEz) that Eric Paddock arrived in town Saturday for hours of interviews with Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, a police detective, a profiler and a psychologist.

Lombardo also says Stephen Paddock had personal protection equipment in his room. Authorities believe he checked into the hotel on September 25.

Campos arrived on the 32nd floor due to an alarm involving an open door, Lombardo said.

"In coordination with the FBI'€™s behavioural analysis unit, a comprehensive picture is being drawn as to the suspect's mental state and now we do not believe there is one particular event in the suspect's life for us to key on", Lombardo said.

Stephen Paddock, the Nevada man who authorities have identified as the gunman, "continued to fire at a progressive successive rate for approximately nine minutes" after authorities received a 911 call, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said.

Jason spent time with our patients who were critically injured during the Las Vegas shooting.

Law enforcement interviews with Paddock's brother Saturday and Sunday were part of an exhaustive search through the 64-year-old's life.

Fans at Sunday's game said they did not think they security measures went too far, and that they were on par with similar venues.

Those who were in two areas of the concert grounds were being allowed to retrieve their things in groups, with authorities expanding the offer Monday to include people who were seated west of the stage. Police have asked people who lost their cellphones to text their full name to their phones.

People seeking their items Monday walked in quietly to the convention center hall, where an assistance center has been set up.

The somber mood inside the hall was occasionally deepened by the weeping of some.
