Umang Bedi joined Facebook in July 2016 and was leading the company’s business operations in the South Asia region

Facebook had appointed the former Adobe South Asia region MD Umang Bedi in June previous year to build and maintain strategic relationships with top clients and regional agencies in the country.
"We confirm that Umang Bedi will be leaving his role at Facebook at the end of this year. He's built a really strong team and business during his time with us, and we wish him all the best", Facebook spoeserson shared in a press statement.
Sandeep Bhushan has been appointed as the interim managing director. Bedi, who joined Facebook last July, will stay with the company for another three months for a smoother transition, the company said. Prior to that, he was the managing director-South Asia at Adobe Systems Inc. Bhushan was earlier with Samsung as IT and mobile business director. During his time, he was tasked with leading business operations with a focus on growing the sales and marketing functions, driving strategic partnerships and alliances and driving cloud services opportunities within the enterprise, government, education and SMB sector.
She is now Managing Global Client Partner and Emerging Markets Lead, Global Accounts at Facebook. He is now developing strategies and partnerships for the social media platform.
India is the second largest user base for Facebook globally, after the US.
There are over two million small and medium businesses (SMB) pages on Facebook in India and more than 30 per cent of active SMB pages on Facebook are owned by women entrepreneurs. Facebook was forced to drop the initiative after howls of protest.
