The explosive was sacked on Sunday and caused panic as air raid sirens rang in Southern Israel, but ended up landing in Palestinian territory - in response, the Israeli military deployed a tank to target the Hamas outpost.

Earlier on Sunday night, the military had said a rocket fell in an open area in the Eshkol region of southern Israel.

"In response, an (Israeli) tank targeted and destroyed a Hamas outpost in the southern Gaza Strip", it said.

There was no word on Monday morning of any casualties.

But Israel holds Hamas responsible for all rocket fire from Gaza, regardless of who carried it out, and usually retaliates within hours.

The summer of 2014 was a disaster for the tiny coastal Gaza City in the Gaza Strip, as the Israeli air force along with troops pounded the city for weeks - the result of an accusation that Hamas launched terror attacks on Israel.

In his 2004 book "The Case For Democracy", Israeli human rights activist Natan Sharansky shared his opinion that "If a person can not walk into the middle of the town square and express his or her views without fear of arrest, imprisonment, or physical harm, then that person is living in a fear society, not a free society". Critics fear that Hamas wants the Palestinian Authority to take over Gaza because the terrorist regime has failed the population there.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Sweirjo argued that Gaza is bound for yet another war with Israel if a political solution is not reached to ease the suffering of the besieged population. During the 50-day Israeli offensive, Gaza's infrastructure was heavily damaged.

That same year, with the help of Egypt, Israel imposed its ongoing blockade on Gaza, effectively regulating the flow of people, goods, medicines, foods and humanitarian supplies into and out of the territory.

Baraka referred that Hamas abdicated the presidency of the Palestinian Unity Government to reinforce the position of the Palestinian authority, for upcoming negotiations with the United States over peace with Israel.

The Israeli Defense Ministry has said that it has discovered thousands of military boots, intended for the Palestinian militant group Hamas, smuggled inside slippers adorned by emojis.

Egypt is trying to persuade Israel to allow Hamas leaders from the occupied West Bank to travel to Cairo in order to take part in Hamas-Fatah reconciliation talks slated to start on Tuesday, Anadolu reported on Sunday. Also, prior to the 2008 Gaza war, at least 129,000 Palestinians were reportedly displaced between 1967 and 2009, as a result of the demolition of their homes and livelihood.
