However, Tunisia, who were the co-hosts for the Afrobasket 2017 tournament, got their bearing after the poor start; winning the next two quarters.

Senegal won the final quarter 26-24 but it wasn't good enough to stop Nigeria from proceeding in the quest to defend the trophy they won in 2015.

Nigeria's D'Tigers on Thursday night saw off stiff opposition from Senegal in the semifinal of the 2017 Afrobasket for men in Tunisia. And the tactics paid off, as they won the third quarter 27-16.

Ziyed Chennoufi top scored for the champions, registering 19 points.

It was more hard for the Nigerians in the third quarter when the Tunisians mounted serious pressure on them and the effort helped the co-hosts to gain more advantage that saw them leading the quarter with a commendable 27-16 points.

The hardworking Diogu was the highest scorer at the championship averaging 22.4 points per game in his five appearances in Rades. Tunisia also played the tournament without Salah Mejri, a 7-foot-2 centre for the Dallas Mavericks. They defeated Cameroon 106-91 in the quarter-final on Thursday before Friday's win over Senegal.
