The fire was reported around 2.20 pm, the official said.
The studio, based on VN Purav Marg in Chembur, was founded by legendary Hindi film actor, director, and producer Raj Kapoor. "All your concerns appreciated", Rishi had tweeted earlier in the evening. There was no crew at the set, today being Saturday. According to officials, five water tankers and twelve ambulances are also pressed into service.
Officials of the emergency services are now at the scene of the incident and no injuries or casualties have been reported yet.
A source was quoted by IANS as saying, "Luckily, no one was injured as the set of the Sony Entertainment Television show was locked and no one was shooting".
G. Duhal said that the situation is under control and the fire has been brought under control. Thankfully no casualties or injuries.
The fire was finally doused by 6.16 p.m., and the operation was officially called off at 7.25 p.m. Fire brigade and civic officers confirmed there were no casualties. Hard to see history in flames.
RK Studios is owned by the Kapoor family, one of the most illustrious families of Bollywood.
Awaara, Shri 420, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Ram Teri Ganga Maili are some of the other films made under the banner.
When Raj Kapoor passed away in 1988, his elder son Randhir Kapoor took over the studio. The last film made under the banner was "Aa Ab Laut Chalen".
