In Southern California to face Chargers, Dolphins have minds on Miami

The Dolphins started just 1-4 a year ago then won nine of their last 11 games to earn a wild-card playoff berth. Cutler was signed August 7 just days after starter Ryan Tannehill suffered a season-ending knee injury. The defense was paced by veteran end Cameron Wake and his 10.5 sacks. However, Timmons and his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, bounced them from the Wild Card round in a 30-12 win. He will be focal point of the game plan and someone Miami's defense must account for whenever he's on the field. The Chargers then drove 38 yards in the final moments and looked like they had re-tied the game on a field goal by rookie Younghoe Koo. If the Dolphins can't protect Jay Cutler, it will be a long day for their offense. "These guys move quickly and they get things done at an extreme rate".
With some family members and friends still in Florida dealing with the remnants of Hurricane Irma, the Miami Dolphins began preparations for their first regular-season game with a practice here on Wednesday. These teams have played the previous four seasons, with Miami holding a 3-1 lead. Against all opposition and angry fans, the Chargers will officially kickoff their new era as a Los Angeles team once again. They need to find a way to stick to their running game. Gordon was limited to 70 yards on 24 carries previous year against Miami.
That said, I am more confident in the Dolphins ability to control the line of scrimmage than Los Angeles this weekend. Philip Rivers is not the mobile type so if the Dolphins get a push up the middle they'll force early and possibly bad throws, and that exponentially increases the potential for an interception.
FAST FACTS: Dolphins QB Jay Cutler will make his team debut after spending the past eight seasons with the Chicago Bears. So not only will Cutler have his work cut out for him, needing to get rid of the ball quickly, but his offensive line also will need to do its part. Meanwhile Ajayi has been dealing with a balky knee but should be ready to go for the opener. That didn't happen enough for some fans past year, especially considering his massive contract.
Until more details arise, this entire situation seems odd. But many of those seats were filled by opposing fans, including a almost full-house of Oakland Raiders fans in the second-to-last home game of the 2016 campaign.
