Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig are shrinking down in size in the newly released trailer for Downsizing!

When you "downsize", a modest $52,000 translates to $12.5 million, which allows everyone to live like tiny kings. "We've got the best houses, best restaurants". It is playing at the London Film Festival this October.

The movie, which stars Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz and Jason Sudeikis, is out in the USA in December, and should arrive in the United Kingdom not long afterwards.

Downsizing has been playing the festival circuit, having screened at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival.

Update: World-Herald photographer Chris Machian noticed that the opening moments of the "Downsizing" trailer were shot at none other than Omaha's Holland Center.

Payne has won Oscars twice for his screenplays-first for Sideways and then The Descendants-and Downsizing will be his first foray into science fiction. The film is now playing at TIFF and will continue the festival circuit in coming months (next stop Fantastic Fest!), and opens in theaters nationwide on December 22.

Here's the synopsis: 'Downsizing imagines what might happen if, as a solution to over-population, Norwegian scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall and propose a 200-year global transition from big to small.
