Odell Beckham Jr., the Giants' superstar receiver, left an exhibition game against the Cleveland Browns on Monday with an injury that the Giants described as an ankle sprain.
Beckham spent a few minutes on the bench before heading to the locker room.
ESPN also reported Beckham was evaluated for a concussion but that the results came back negative.
He then began his walk to the locker room before dropping to his knees. ESPN cameras showed Beckham down on his knees with a towel over his head, clearly in pain.
Beckham returned to the sideline for the start of the third quarter, wearing street clothes with his ankle wrapped.
Multiple reporters at the game said Giants safety Landon Collins had heated words with Boddy-Calhoun for the low hit. If Beckham's injury is serious - if he avoided any knee issue he's lucky, because his leg bent awkwardly when he got hit - then the Giants are in trouble. Beckham is unlikely to return to Monday's game and one has to wonder if we'll see him again in the preseason.
Also known for his sensational one-handed catches and wild hair styles, Beckham caught 101 passes and scored 10 touchdowns last season.
