Guardiola says he's not moved by talk that Man City are favourites

City finished 15 points off the pace of Premier League champions Chelsea as Guardiola presided over the first trophyless campaign of his career.

The first all Premier League clash in the country belonged to the Manchester club, with goals from Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Agüero and Raheem Sterling giving them a comfortable 3-0 victory and they will be hopeful to take that form into the start of the league campaign.

Craig Burley feels Pep Guardiola's back may be against the wall if he does not win any trophies with Man City this season.

Ederson Moraes insists he's unperturbed by his status as the most expensive goalkeeper in history following his move to Manchester City earlier this summer.

"For us, we're up against top-class opposition that will have more possession than we do".

"Then I became a starter at Schalke, played my first global game and also took part in the European Championships". We are here to win the games and titles. The new players that come in they have to adjust to the way we want to play.

Manchester City: Ederson; Stones, Kompany, Otamendi; Walker, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, D.Silva, Danilo; Jesus, Aguero.

"I think it is unsustainable".

"It´s important, but it´s not absolutely essential to get the season off to a winning start".

"We have spent, of course, but all the teams have spent", he continued. Everyone has witnessed the way a Guardiola team can play when Pep has the right players and everyone understands the tactics, as Guardiola has won the Champions League twice with Barcelona and has steamrolled the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich three times.

"Like every club that´s promoted to the Premier League, it´s to finish 17th or higher".

"We are going to see at the end of the season what happens", he indicated.

United face a relatively benign start to the season, Rooney's return to Old Trafford with big-spending Everton the most taxing assignment of their opening seven fixtures. I'm not going to say we are going to play all the season in that system, we are going to play different systems, but the fundamentals will be the same. When I am not playing or training, I watch football all the time. Brighton are an unknown quantity as this is their first outing in the Premier League, but they were a well-disciplined, organised side with quality in attacking areas on their way to promotion glory. City, backed by the UAE, have again spent fortunes in the summer transfer market.

Brighton secured a return to the top flight of English football last season after 25 years of absence, and they're starting it with one of the most hard fixtures of the season.

Fellow new signings Bernado Silva, Kyle Walker and Danilo are also in line to feature, though new recruit Benjamin Mendy is missing with a thigh strain.
