In his complaint, the advocate has said that Oviya allegedly made an unsuccessful bid to end her life in the Bigg Boss Tamil house on the episode aired on 4 August on Vijay TV, reportsThe Hindu. The reason she cited was that she was under tremendous stress.
The Kamal Haasan hosted show is slowly emerging as the most controversial shows in the Indian Television history.
The Hindu reported, He complainant, an advocate, said that participants in the show were required stay inside a closed compound for 100 days and could leave the compound only with the permission of the producers. The complainant further alleged that her suicide attempt was triggered by depression caused by the activities forced on her by the producers, the show's host and Vijay TV. Therefore, police have now issued summons to Oviya for her clarification the issue.
While Oviya's personal spokesperson denied her attempt of suicide, the actress is yet to respond and appear before the officials.
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court has sought details of the mechanism available under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for monitoring such issues, as per a Times of India report. The actress has gained vast popularity from Kamal Haasan-hosted show and there are rumours that she might be back on the show soon. The matter has been posted for next hearing which is scheduled for August 18.
