Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says Alvaro Morata is yet to start for the club because playing adapting to his style of play as a striker is "more difficult" than in other positions.

"Matic was a big player for Chelsea last season and even though they have sign players to replace him, he is going to be missed and possibly just as significantly, he strengthens Manchester United, there is no doubt about that".

Conte said he believed Chelsea, who have also signed midfielder Tiemoue Bakayako from Monaco, are a stronger side than last season. I think he has good prospects for Chelsea - for now and the future. Bakayoko has not and I saw him in the Champions League previous year.

"I can admit that it is a very significant amount, but I have the character to be able to play calmly and to follow my path", he told Marca when asked if his price tag could affect his form.

In the short term, Chelsea start the season with Eden Hazard and Bakayoko out injured, while Morata is still getting used to his new teammates and may take time to settle. Maybe now Pogba will have more freedom to get forward and people will expect to see goals and assists from him on a regular basis now in the big games.

Last week, Morata came on as a 74th-minute substitute for Michy Batshuayi in the Community Shield penalty shootout defeat to Arsenal at Wembley, and Conte said the 24-year-old is still not ready.

"We have been working very well and I must be pleased with the commitment of my players". I think I'm the coach of this team.

A dismal title defence and the shock sacking of Claudio Ranieri raised questions about the players' character, but a run to the Champions League quarter-finals under Craig Shakespeare augured well.

"As you know the Premier League is the main target. But he is a great loss for us".

"I repeat: my only task is to focus on the pitch, what happens on the pitch, during the training session to work with my players".

The Premier League is tagged as Europe's most exciting league with its unpredictable title race, frenetic rate and its tendency for late goals.
