Landry set a BC single-season record with 16.5 sacks in 2016. After playing at Arkansas State week two, Miami will open ACC play week three against Florida State.

NC State (658 total points) was tabbed for a fourth-place Atlantic Division finish, followed by Wake Forest (415), Syracuse (362) and Boston College (283). Virginia Tech, which won the Coastal last season, is the second-place pick.

The media's picks for the 2017 ACC football season are out.

Entering Mark Richt's second season, Miami got 103 votes to be the Coastal Division's champion. "We're moving right along at a very good pace, I think".

Here's who's being picked to win the ACC.

. Miami Sophomores, linebacker Shaquille Quarterman and wide receiver Ahmmon Richards finished in a three-way tie for seventh with one vote each. Virginia Tech was the eventual champion. But to me, it's about the process and it's about are we going about the process that's been proven over time that leads to our improvement? It doesn't guarantee that we will win.

Both teams enter the season with plenty back on strong defenses that ranked in the top-20 nationally past year, although both also have major question marks at quarterback after Jerod Evans and Brad Kaaya entered the NFL Draft last winter. Georgia Tech placed third, followed by Pittsburgh. Florida State and Miami have never met in the ACC Championship Game.

Defending Heisman Trophy victor Lamar Jackson was the preseason pick as conference player of the year, receiving 113 votes for the award, well ahead of Florida State sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois, who received 23 votes.

The Cardinals were also slotted to finish third in the Atlantic Division behind both the Seminoles and Tigers.
