"It is hard to explain to the fans the sensations and the emotions that I had on that day", he added on the Roma website (www.asroma.com).

Roma on Monday announced that club hero Francesco Totti would remain at the Stadio Olimpico in a new, directorial position.

"Tokyo Verdy" Totti has offered three million euros per year, and the veteran two weeks after the farewell match at Roma said that allows the option of pursuing a career.

The 40-year had spent his entire 25-year playing career with the team of his heart, having made his debut for the Giallorossi at the age of 16 in 1993.

"I spoke with sporting director Monchi, we had a great chat and took the time to get to know each other better", Totti added. "I want to be everything and nothing, I want to be an important figure for Rome and for Roma and truly understand what I'll do".

The former Italy global confirmed he had played his last game for Roma in the season finale against Genoa, although he stopped short of calling time on his playing career in an emotional statement to his supporters.

"The first part of my life as a football player is over and now another more important on is about to begin. Now begins a new phase and a new adventure".

It's been 25 years and more of a lovely relationship with Roma.

"I will try to make myself fully available, from the youth academy through to the president".

The football pitch has given me so much, and I have tried to give everything and more back for the people who day after day have shown me so much love.

Totti scored 307 goals in a staggering 786 games for the Italian giants during a 25-year playing career. "I'll pick a ideal role so that I am able to make this a great team and a great club".
