The first two episodes have reportedly already been written by series creator Nic Pizzolatto, who is said to be working with Deadwood creator David Milch. We're keeping our fingers crossed that this deal works out!

Now, Ali has begun early talks to join Season 3 according to Variety, which certainly means there's been some forward movement with the project. That means the real question is what sort of story they have in mind. After massive success with both fans and critics during the initial season, the second season failed to impress either, with convoluted storylines, excessively twisted plots, and an unsatisfying ending for most, among other issues.

Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch star in Season 2 of "True Detective", which weaves a web of conspiracy and betrayal around a weird murder in the scorched landscapes of Southern California. Where the first season gave viewers the flawless onscreen pair, Season 2's ensemble was a bit of a head scratcher.

Now, according to The Tracking Board, Ali may be starring in Season 3 of True Detective All we have to say is YES!

No, it's the cast. You could go the Luke Cage route and reteam Ali with Alfre Woodard, as their sibling chemistry was so electric on that show. But a third season remains up in the air. Who do you want to see star alongside Ali?

Look at that picture! Let's be real: the mere fact that Ali carries the laudable cachet of being an Oscar-winner is enough to return to respectability to the True Detective name. He doesn't even have to shave!

Ali's track record with dramas of all shapes and sizes would serve incredibly well as a training ground for True Detective.
