WWE 'Battleground' 2017 match card: New matches announced for 'SmackDown' PPV

It has been rumored that Mahal and Randy Orton would headline Battleground which would make the third pay-per-view in a row with them in the main event, but the type of match couldn't have been predicted. Commissioner Shane McMahon came to the ring and told Orton he could have his title rematch at "Battleground", but that the champion would get to choose a stipulation for it.

San Diego WWE Smackdown 06/27/2017 live dark match Full Match! This came after the WWE Champion went after Bob Orton, Randy's father, on last Tuesday's SmackDown Live.

WWE recently brought the Punjabi Prison structure from their company warehouse to have it cleaned up and to have the cage repaired for future use.

When Mahal and Orton battle it out in the bamboo cages, it will mark only the third time in history that this match has taken place.

The first of the two was played between the Undertaker and Big Show at Great American Bash, back in 2006.

During tonight's SmackDown Live, there was another match confirmed for Battleground after the Hype Bros failed to defeat The Usos.

Jinder Mahal arrived out with The Singh Brothers and eventually said they will have a Punjabi Prison Match at the PPV. You can only get so far with having lower level names dominate the show and then put one big match on to try and balance it out. It looks like that could be the first feud for the first couple of SmackDown Live. The New Day came out after and the two teams had some words ... while rapping.

We will also see an "Independence Day Battle Royale" take place where the victor will get a shot at Kevin Owens for the United States Title.

AJ Styles complained to Daniel Bryan backstage about Kevin Owens not allowing him to compete in the open challenge last week. The first was supposed to be The Great Khali vs.
