"Wow, CNN had to retract big story on 'Russia, ' with three employees forced to resign".

The president, in a morning tweetstorm related to CNN's retraction of a story about a Trump associate's meeting with a Russian financial leader, suggested that the network is looking at management changes.

In addition to his tweet, Trump also retweeted a graphic mocking the CNN as the "Fake News Network".

He says after Trump pulled out of the Paris accord, CNN covered it for a day or two, then was ordered by CNN CEO Jeff Zucker to get back to Russian Federation. "Those are the facts". Not only was the story retracted but CNN also issued an apology to Anthony Scaramucci, the target of the story.

According to CNN, the story published on June 20 did not comply with the standards of quality, precision and exhaustive reviews imposed by the editorial department, particularly because it was based on a single anonymous source.

Thomas Frank, the author of the article, editor Eric Lichtblau and Lex Haris, who headed the newly-created investigative unit that produced the story have all quit.

CNN says President Donald Trump is wrong to suggest the network is failing.

But several network officials were caught off-guard when the story appeared online, the people said, signaling that it had not received the proper approvals.

The Post quoted an unnamed CNN source as saying that the news organization began an investigation into the story and concluded that reporting procedures weren't followed properly. It retracted it and apologised to Scaramucci on Saturday.

What makes Huckabee Sanders's call to action more disturbing is that-beyond telling Americans to watch the work of someone she can't vouch for as accurate and who anyone would have little reason to trust-one of O'Keefe's videos, Taxpayers Clearing House, was funded secretly by Peter Thiel.

"That story did not meet CNN's editorial standards and has been retracted". Haris had been with CNN since 2001, and was recently tapped to lead its newly formed investigative unit. Zucker has a long and sometimes fraught relationship with Trump, having greenlighted his reality shows, "The Apprentice" and "Celebrity Apprentice", while he ran NBC, but occasionally drawing criticism from Trump while running CNN. Bonifield later goes on to say that the president is justified in saying "Look, you are witch hunting me".

"Why is CNN constantly like 'Russia this, Russian Federation that?'" an unnamed Project Veritas reporter asks John Bonifield, CNN supervising producer, in a video that appears to have been filmed covertly.

CNN said in a statement that it is standing by Bonifield.
