In addition to his first win of the season, Sunday marked Kevin Harvick's first career win at Sonoma Raceway. He also won the first stage in the Toyota Save/Mart 350, his unbelievable 11th stage win the season.

But the sometimes-ornery Harvick wasn't stressing out over a winless 2017.

With difficulty finding sponsorship, Nemechek said that he is trying not to make mistakes under the pressure of trying to perform.

Racing drivers are adrenaline junkies, so even when they retire, nearly all of them leave the door open for a one-off return to get their fixes. "But, long after your career — guys come along and win races and some of your accomplishments on the track sort of get forgotten".

"When you talk about it being in the Chase, you've got to have it right", Harvick said, using the former name of NASCAR's playoffs. That's OK. Bear with me for a moment and let's see if I can convince you of one of the. "I tried my best". It was his first since winning at Kansas last autumn and it was his first at Sonoma. Will he also be walking away from his Cup Series ride at season's end?

Day won the NASCAR Whelen Euro race in England on June 11 at Brands Hatch and was planning to return to Israel after that race, then got the call to compete at the Sonoma Raceway in California. He had a comfortable lead on SHR teammate Clint Bowyer when the caution came out on the final lap. The driver from Bakersfield, Calif., believes the Stewart-Haas team is just hitting its stride after a busy off season conversion from Chevy entries to Ford.

Day was hoping for a top- 10 finish, but said he still learned a lot from the experience.

He had the best vehicle and led a race-high 25 laps before exiting with engine failure late in the race.

Having the four new tires, Harvick was able to make up time on the leaders on the track. I guess we'll have to do that again because it worked out pretty good. This Toyota was so good today.

Team New Zealand, which has been fast in light wind, needs two more victories to lift sailing's greatest prize from two-time defending champion Oracle Team USA, which is owned by software magnate Larry Ellison.

"I can say this now, but I had mixed emotions about how the year was going to go just because of the fact that we had a lot on our plate to switch over", Harvick said. "If we got that caution, staying out on the track would have been a race-winning move but it didn't work out".

Despite its first-year status, Stewart-Haas could be considered Ford's best team. Do we go after the playoff points in the first stage or do we not? It's hard for me to put that into words because I don't know what that is going to feel like. Harvick, Keselowski, Blaney, Kurt Busch (41), and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(17) hold five of those ten spots. "I think it gave us extra motivation".

Hamlin led early in the final third stage of the race that made up the last 60 laps of the 110-lap race when he stayed out after Jimmy Johnson gave up the lead to pit between the second and third stages. In those other two series, we're talking about primarily follow the leader events with the announcers getting excited when there is the rare pass for position inside the top 10.

"It's very disappointing", Truex said in the garage.

For Byron, the victory was quick redemption after Hamlin beat him by 0.012 seconds. "We'll sit down with the same group that kind of came up with that concept".

"We built chassis over the winter", said Harvick's crew chief, Rodney Childers. That's a credit to everyone at Team Penske. "This is not how we wanted it to go at all". He won the first stage, raising his season stage wins to 11 for the season. Bell soon regained control, but he was clipped by Brennan Poole and sustained heavy damage.

Sixteen drivers will qualify for the ten-race playoff. Sadler finished eighth after an up and down night. Brad Keselowski won this race in 2016 in dominating fashion.
