A Czech nuclear power plant has been accused of sexism after news broke of its alleged bikini competition held to choose its new interns.

Last week, on its Facebook page, power generation conglomerate CEZ Group posted pictures of 10 high school graduates posing in bikinis at cooling towers at Temelin nuclear power plant, which is located in the country's South Bohemian region.

Fans were asked to vote for the hottest to secure the internship job and she was also crowned as "Miss Energy 2017".

The raunchy pictures of the barely legal contestants were put on a Facebook page where users were asked to vote for their favorite; the victor of the contest would get a 14-day internship at the nuclear plant.

"We think photographs are very tasteful", it wrote in a comment on the post.

The post elicited nearly 700 comments on Facebook, with many users slamming the competition as sexist.

Petra Havlíková, a lawyer for human rights non-profit Nesehnutí and an equal opportunities adviser, is quoted by DW as saying: "The competition is absolutely outside the bounds of ethics". The release said the women "greatly enjoyed" the experience, according to a German news report on the bikini contest.

'But if the original vision raised doubts or concerns, we are very sorry'.

Although CEZ later claimed the point of the contest was to "promote technical education", controversy in the Czech Republic and online came quickly, with one internet user calling it "degrading, disgusting, and primitive".

Oh, and it seems like every gal was a victor because the plant offered all ten ladies an internship.

And because of the backlash the nuclear plant was forced to say sorry.
