Myrtle Beach is popular among tourists because of its gorgeous, white sand beaches.

What's more, a patrol auto was struck during the early-morning shooting, Myrtle Beach Police Lt. Joey Crosby told The Post and Courier.

"Multiple people down", says the man narrating the video, shot from a balcony.

"I started filming because there was a large crowd dancing on the street; I thought it would be amusing", he said.

He initially thought that the people were simply dancing in the street. "Then, they started shooting".

Myrtle Beach Police say the incident occurred Sunday around 12:30am near Ocean Boulevard, by the coast. Some of the crowd started to run as cruisers approached.

A patrol auto was struck by bullets, but no officer was shot or injured during the shooting. According to WMBF, a fight broke out and one of the people involved in the fight pulled a gun and shot the person he was fighting. The shooter fled the scene by carjacking a vehicle, according to a release from the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Crosby said the suspect has been detained and will be served with an arrest warrant once he is "medically cleared".

Facebook users watched live early Sunday as a melee ignited a shootout between a man and a security guard, accounting for most of the weekend casualties.

A security guard who witnessed the shooting fired at the gunman, wounding him, reports KCRG. He received medical attention on the scene. Hinson began recording the video before the shooting, describing a large crowd that "blocking the whole road".
