This image from 2014 of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong'o at a Miu Miu fashion show started going viral - and you can't deny, it looks like a flawless still from the best buddy comedy you can dream up. 'Ava DuVernay (Selma) will direct and Issa Rae (Insecure) is writing the screenplay.

They say Netflix have landed the film, "beating out multiple other suitors" and Rae is in talks to pen the script.

Things got even more delightful when Ava DuVernay and Issa Rae were thrown in the ring as the perspective director and screenwriter for the fictional film.

The story Rihanna and Lupita meme becomes Netflix's next movie first appeared on The Sydney Morning Herald.

There were reportedly numerous bids for the project during a negotiation session at the Cannes Film Festival, a claim that isn't too hard to believe when you see just how much star power is attached. All four women pledged their support via tweetable agreements.

Selma director Ava DuVernay will helm the film, and Insecure series creator Issa Rae is now in talks to pen the script.

And then Rihanna tweeted, saying she's in.

Nyong'o and Rihanna were into the idea.

The plot of the film was also dreamt up by fans, again on Twitter, and will apparently see Rihanna playing a con artist who targets rich white men, with Nyong'o playing her best friend. "Lights set. Camera's up".

The concept of the film emerged on Twitter after users were inspired by a viral photograph of the two stars. "Ready to call action for these #queens", DuVernay added.

The pause till 2018 when DuVernay wraps her latest film, A Wrinkle In Time, isn't stopping the film's adrenaline as DuVernay briskly shared the news on Twitter.
