Citibank Australian credit cardholders have had access to Samsung Pay since June 2016.
"Although we can not provide detailed figures, the sales are going smoothly around the globe", the unnamed Samsung official told The Investor.
Users of Samsung Pay rivals Apple Pay and Google Wallet are already able to pay for journeys.

Samsung Pay is supported by the Galaxy S8, S7 and S6, all of which will be compatible with standard contactless payment terminals in the UK.

Alongside this Samsung Pay also has partnerships with various shops and brands that allow you to earn rewards by paying for products with Samsung Pay.
Just based on those numbers, it might look like the Galaxy S8 sales are moving slower.
As you can with an Oyster or contactless bank card, you can now check in and out of the Underground and pay for journeys on buses by tapping your Samsung phone against the reader, and there's no need to wake your phone's screen up beforehand.
The company is reportedly planning to roll out the service to other phones lower down its range, however.
The Galaxy S8 smartphones feature high resolution displays that bend on both sides and come with various innovative technologies, such as iris and face recognition scanners, and a smart voice assistance program named Bixby.
