In Chittogarh, a group of locals targeted a few Kashmiri students of Mewar universtiy calling them stone-pelters and taunted them over a video of a CRPF personnel being attacked in Kashmir.

Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday that all states should ensure safety of Kashmiri students living in the country.

Hansraj Ahir, the Minister of State for Home, talking to media in New Delhi said, "We do accept that the situation in Kashmir is not completely under control".

Mr, Singh stated, I appeal to the Chief Minister of all states to ensure that such incidents don't happen, they are equal citizens of India, they have also greatly contributed to national security.

The minister also said he has asked the home ministry officials to circulate an advisory in this regard.

Singh's statement came in the wake of reports alleging that Kashmiri students in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh were being threatened after the latest incidents of stone pelting and assault on security personnel by Kashmiri youths in the Valley. The students suffered minor injuries in the incident. Recently, a hoarding has been put up in Meerut Uttar Pradesh asking Kashmiri's to leave the state.

He said a proper inquiry should be initiated in each case to ensure strongest action against those who indulged in harassing Kashmiri students staying outside Jammu and Kashmir.

This is not first such incident; it should be remembered that past year too, some Kashmiri students were thrashed in the same university over rumours of cooking beef.
