Jose Mourinho fears worst after Ibrahimovic and Rojo injuries sour European win

Michael Owen expressed his concern for Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the Manchester United striker suffered an injury during Thursday night's clash with Anderlecht.

Martial joined United in a 36 million-pound move from Monaco in 2015, but this season he has struggled to earn a regular starting place. "I want to wait, and want to try to be optimistic, but I'm not".

Mourinho said the outlook for both was "fairly negative", and with the injured Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Juan Mata already out of forthcoming games against Burnley and Manchester City, the manager finds his options limited at a crucial time.

"The same way I know what the players like, I think the players also know what I like".

"We have Daley Blind, who has experience in the position, and I think it is time for Jones and Smalling to be courageous - to risk", the United boss, who seemed to criticise Smalling's pain threshold earlier in the season, said.

"Now we need absolutely everyone, now I even have to think that Axel Tuanzebe, has to go to the under something World Cup in Korea, because maybe Axel has to come now, now we need everyone".

The Armenian struck again early on but United were given a scare, with Anderlecht captain Sofiane Hanni bringing the tie level, before Rashford capped a man-of-the-match display with the goal that secured a 2-1 extra-time win, sending United through 3-2 on aggregate.

Wayne Rooney could be thrown into action sooner than planned by Manchester United to solve a growing injury crisis that has left manager Jose Mourinho to warn: "We're in trouble".

"He is about that".

"It's about going in the direction we like".

With both men now sidelined, he said: "I think it's time".

"But the news is fairly negative I think". "Yes I think. But he needs to give me things I like very much".

Mourinho does not seem to be thrilled with Anthony Martial this season, as he has only scored three goals all year in league play.

"You know, we have been together for nearly 10 months or something like that", the United boss said ahead of Thursday's Europa League quarter-final second-leg meeting with Anderlecht.

"After 90 minutes, before I know that I have to change Zlatan, he was with cramps". "The reality is that Sergio is very stable, he's very experienced, he's playing very well".
