The Giants caught a break by not having to go to CenturyLink Field in Seattle, but that is about the only break they caught.

Judging by social media, many Giants fans are upset their team must open the season at the Cowboys for the third consecutive year. The Giants close their season with three out of four in the division, all at home, including the finale against Washington.

Last year the Giants beat the Cowboys 20-19 (and then the Cowboys wouldn't lose again until Week 14 when they played the Giants a second time) and the year before that the Cowboys beat the Giants 27-26 on Sunday night. Hope it's below freezing come December 10. Were all those teams a little worse than I thought they were going to be? Dallas will also get the team that knocked them out of the playoffs past year, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in Week 5, before getting their bye.

The Jets will start the season the same way they ended the last one - facing the Bills.

Certainly not an easy task beating either, but definitely easier in the confines of MetLife Stadium. The Cowboys have only two of the early afternoon games - October 1 at home against the Rams, and New Year's Eve at the Eagles.

Francesa said the Giants would travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals in week 16 of the 2017 season, which could mean the franchise would host a game on Christmas Eve. Following nearly immediately upon the release of the schedule, Vegas has the Cowboys as 5.5-point favorites against the Giants on September 10 in Dallas. They'll be looking to end that mini-skid in this year's season opener.

Plus, only six of Big Blue's 16 games are against 2016 playoff opponents. The Giants will have theirs in Week 8, which is a good time to have it as it will be right in the middle of the season. That's pretty good. They only make three trips to the far west (at San Francisco, Oakland and Arizona), although two are in the final five weeks.

On the flip side, the Giants will open with three of their first four games on the road.

The Arizona Cardinals have some attractive teams on the home and away schedule in 2017. And the fact they want to bring a Lombardi Trophy to Oakland before moving to Las Vegas gives them extra motivation to rip through the league this season.
