Preds beat Chicago 3-2, push Hawks to brink of elimination

Kristopher Love | 20 April, 2017, 06:12

Just ask the Nashville Predators. His second came when he cleaned up a rebound in front of Crawford at 14:08, a goal the Hawks challenged for goaltender interference on Arvidsson.

Bridgestone Arena rattled in anticipation, the crowd of 17,204 stoked to welcome back the Predators from consecutive shutout victories in Chicago. All of this was known going into the year, and the changes to the Draft pick compensation system in the new collective bargaining agreement limit the value of retaining certain pending free agents and therefore makes it all the more likely that this year's Deadline is going to be bonkers. Working class players can be heroes in hockey, as Kevin Fiala proved by scoring the game-winner Monday.

"Now we've talked about momentum in the series and momentum within a game", Gulutzan said. "They have proven time in and time out that they're a championship team for a reason". Carrie said, "You learn how important that family time is, and to be able to spend time and carve out some of that and maybe get to go on vacation and maybe get to go on a cruise - that stuff is so important to, like I said, make time for family".

Nashville Predator Mike Fisher was the real victor of his team's big playoff game before the puck was even dropped. But as the puck bounced back toward the vacant Nashville net, he had to quickly dive back from behind the goal line to just barely get a stick on it, keeping Chicago from scoring what would have been its first goal of the series. He had a quick hand play, where he got a good shot off on net. What was perhaps even more surprising than the incredibly long goal drought itself was that Dennis Rasmussen was the player who ended the dubious streak. Those opportunities simply don't exist in the National Hockey League.

Quenneville recalled that 2011 series on Tuesday.

Thus far through three playoff games, against what was heralded as one of the top teams in the league, Fiala has excelled.

Anaheim took Sami Vatanen on the road trip to Canada despite his upper-body injury that made him a late scratch Saturday night.

"Once you do something, you can say, 'Hey, we've done that before.' " Predators coach Peter Laviolette said of his team's knack for mounting comebacks. "I thought he did that". I don't think we need to lose confidence or swagger or anything like that.

In a post at ThePlayersTribune.com, Mike writes, "They could have traded me anywhere, but they were genuinely looking out for me and my family".

Despite outshooting the Blackhawks 27-22 in the first two periods, Corey Crawford held the Predators scoreless till the third.

When I was packing up my stuff to go to the airport, I got a call from Eugene Melnyk, the owner of the Senators. "There are a lot of things that go into his game that are concerning for (the Predators)". Fiala has been all over the ice since his last recall from Milwaukee, playing like a young man possessed... adding an element of effort to his wonderful talent level.
