Bernie Sanders kicks off cross-country tour in Maine

Sanders and Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez are traveling together on the tour.

Sanders says the Democratic Party must stop ignoring half the nation's states and take on corporate greed on behalf of the working class.

"We need a bottom-up party, a grassroots party which is prepared to stand up to the big money interests, which have so much influence over the political and economic development of our country'" Sanders continued.

"On Monday, DNC Chair Tom Perez and Bernie Sanders kicked off the 'Unity Tour, ' admitting that their party is, well, not unified", said RPOF Chairman Blaise Ingoglia.

The eight-state Sanders-Perez "Come Together and Fight Back" tour began Monday in ME and ends Saturday in Nevada, two states Clinton won in November.

Perez was secretary of labor under President Barack Obama and became party chairman in February.

Sanders campaigned heavily in Florida past year to nab the Democratic nomination but ultimately lost out to Hillary Clinton, who received 64 percent of the primary vote. Many supporters of Clinton's campaign believe she failed not because she declined to attack the rich, but primarily because of outside factors beyond her control - the last-minute letter from FBI Director James Comey; the foreign intervention by Vladimir Putin and WikiLeaks; the archaic nature of the Electoral College. Former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will headline a Louisville event aimed at helping re-energize Kentucky's downtrodden Democratic Party. Five of the six members of Congress who represent parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties are Democrats.

For the first time in history, ME split its Electoral College vote between two candidates previous year.

Democrats have new leadership on multiple levels. It is true that the Democratic Party should have put more resources into that election. He replaced Allison Tant, who didn't run for re-election after four years as party chairwoman. "Here in ME we have got to stand together against all efforts to roll back the minimum wage legislation passed by the people of the state", he said.

He also said he's introducing legislation to create a single-payer health care system.

"Those Republican leaders and President Trump don't give a s**t about the people they were trying to hurt", a wild-eyed Perez, arms flailing, yelled at the crowd. "Democrats all-too-frequently were not speaking to everyone everywhere; that's what we're doing this week", he said.

"Over the past few election cycles, Bluegrass voters have soundly rejected the job-killing, leftist policies espoused by Perez, Sanders, and the Democrat Party", McDaniel said. When she mentioned Perez, the room changed. It's not for show.

"We need to continue to cause good trouble, and that good trouble includes making sure we call out this budget", he added. "There's more that unifies us than divides us". Admission is first-come, first-serve with the doors opening at 10:30 a.m. Check back for more information.
