At first the Unicorn Frappuccino looks like it's purple with swirls of blue. Vanilla whipped cream and sweet pink and sour blue powder top it off.

So far, people are pretty hyped about Starbucks's new concoction.

The Unicorn Frappuccino is clearly aimed at the social-media set. Grown-up tasters assumed, based on the colors, that it was raspberry-flavored. The talk started last Wednesday, according to Food & Wine, when a Reddit user uploaded a (now deleted) photo of blue dust to the site, captioned as "Unicorn frapp topping".

Ending days of social media speculation over whether Starbucks would be offering a "Unicorn Frappuccino", the coffee company on Tuesday confirmed that it would indeed be offering the brightly hued, coffee-free sweet drink.

Here's the thing about Starbucks' latest drink: If you don't like the color or flavor, just give it a stir.

Starbucks has released an official image, but when it comes to mass-produced Starbucks drinks, the reality often diverges from the ideal, Instagram-ready image. But once it's stirred, "the color transforms from purple to pink, and the flavor evolves from sweet and fruity to tangy and tart".

And while Starbucks has said that the drink will only remain on the menu for a limited period, there is a slim chance that it could make a more permanent return in the future.
