Isaiah Thomas to play Game 2, then fly to sister's funeral

Meanwhile, Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Monday he expects Thomas to remain with the team for Tuesday's Game 2 in the series before returning to be with his family in the Seattle area.

Thomas will suit up for the game, and then head to Tacoma to be with his family either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Thomas was in Boston when he heard the news about his sister's passing. "That's what you hope you have in a team, but it's probably not always the case".

No matter the decision, whether it be to stay and play or fly home to be with family, the Boston Celtics and all of their fans will support Thomas; because together we are Boston strong!

Bradley says it's important now to pick Thomas up on and off the court. I think the next extension of your family is who you're around every day, your team, and so these guys are really terrific teammates.

Despite the huge support from around the basketball community, from other players in the midst of their own postseason endeavors to media and fans, there was one detractor - Charles Barkley.

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas gets a hug from guard Avery Bradley.

It's likely that Thomas' teammates vehemently disagreed with Chuck's assessment that he shouldn't have played, since Thomas led the game in scoring with 33 points, along with five rebounds and six assists.

"He's trying his best to compartmentalize when he's here to work on what he needs to work on, but I'm sure that's hard", Stevens added.

"Me and Isaiah have known each other since we were kids", Bradley said.

"I don't know how this night is going to turn out". I'm not feeling comfortable with him sitting on the sideline crying like that.

The Boston Celtics are projected to have the same starting lineup as Game 1. "We knew (Thomas) was hurting...we have a lot of respect for him that he was able to come out". Al Horford and Amir Johnson must take their game to another level because if the Celtics can't rebound and keep the Bulls from getting 2nd Chance points, it is very possibility that the Celtics could get eliminated. The team's point guard also showed early endeavors during the first quarter when he missed his first free throw attempt.
