Chief Executive Elon Musk said Thursday said the company will unveil its first "Semi truck" in September in what appears to be yet another major product launch for the electric vehicle maker.

Chairman Elon Musk in a series of tweets Thursday said a Telsa semitrailer will debut in September.

Speaking about the lorry, Mr Musk said his team had done an "amazing job" and the vehicle would be "seriously next level".

In response to a question about when fans may see the completed version of the Model 3 sedan, scheduled for delivery to the first pre-order customers later this year, Musk simply answered "July".

Musk also said the company plans to unveil a pickup truck in 18 to 24 months.

News Tesla was working on a electric truck was released last August, with the firm saying it expected to go into production in the next five years. Well, we got a rough timeline for Tesla's semi-truck reveal.

Denning noted that even though just one of the seven members on Tesla's board isn't directly connected to Musk may not matter given the stock's performance. As we previously reported, Musk put Tesla's Vice President of Vehicle Programs, Jerome Guillen, in charge of the automaker's all-electric heavy truck program.

The $2 billion stock deal for the money-losing installer of residential solar power systems, prompted a 13 percent fall in Tesla's share price after Musk outlined it last June.

That takes the Tesla's market capitalization to $51.53 billion, more than $1 billion above GM. Skeptics say Tesla's growth targets are unrealistic. Lutz, just like many others, said that the company is losing out money on every auto it sells as the cost of production is greater than the selling price. The company said in February it was talking to 20 potential customers about its electric truck. In trading Monday, Tesla's shares increased to an all-time high of $313.73 on Nasdaq early in the day.

Tesla, which already builds its mainstay Model S sedan and Model X sport utility vehicle, briefly became the largest USA automaker by stock market value early this week when its market valuation surpassed that of General Motors Corp. The company has a history of delays and coming in under promised production.
