Anthony Johnson bids farewell to UFC fans in emotional Instagram post

Rumble, who is one of the pound-for-pound heaviest hitting fighters in the sport, lost to Daniel Cormier for the second time of his career in the main event, succumbing to a rear-naked choke in the second round. We saw that outcome when the pair met at UFC 187 in 2015.

Rumors have swirled since Saturday night that Johnson had accepted an off-field position with an National Football League team, but he hasn't made any kind of confirmation about his new career after announcing his retirement. He was seen pushing down on a towel - one used to cover up his nude lower body - during his second attempt. Had Cormier weighed in at 206.2 pounds again, he would have had to forfeit 20 percent of his final purse over to Johnson.

"This is something I have to do for me".

"This was my last fight", a tearful Johnson said.

His actions infuriated UFC president Dana White past year, who vowed he would not book Jones in a main event again because of the trouble it caused. I didn't tell anybody. I didn't want to take that head kick. "I know I can do nothing and beat this guy.' I went out there and busted my (butt) to make sure I'm in the best shape possible".

The 33-year-old Johnson rebounded with three straight knockout victories, and many expected him to keep the fight standing in the rematch.

Well, since the fight, MMA Junkie has put transcribed some of the audio that was coming out of Johnson's corner, and it shows wrestling was not part of the plan. "I'll miss mma and every aspect of the game, but my time is over and I'm ready to watch the new generation take over", he continued. I'm exhausted of getting punched and rolling around on the ground with guys and stuff like that. "Ain't nothing fun about that, yo". Please believe that because as soon as I get an opportunity, y'all know what's going to happen, so believe that.

Cormier also ripped into former division kingpin Jon Jones, now suspended for a drugs infraction, who called the champ's controversial weigh-in "one of the dirtiest things I've ever seen in sport".

Daniel Cormier defeated Anthony Johnson via submission. I'm not going to beg for cheers.

The fight came to a standstill as Weidman was given time to recover, but the American was clearly shaken and seemingly unable to continue and after an out-of-ring official was called into the octagon to confer with referee "Big" John McCarthy, the fight was called and given to Mousasi as a TKO win. At the end of the day, he's a wrestler, and he took me down twice.
