Samsung needs a hit smartphone after its reputation took a hit from the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, which also pulled down its overall handset sales.

Earlier this month, Samsung launched two new smartphones in "Galaxy A" series - 5.7-inch Galaxy A7 and 5.2-inch Galaxy A5 in India which were priced at Rs 33,490 and Rs 28,990, respectively. The S8+ is simply a larger Galaxy S8 with a bigger battery. You also get an impressive 570 pixels per inch (ppi). As rumored, the phone comes with an extra wide aspect ratio of 18.5:9, and with 2960 x 1440 resolution.

The front camera is getting a boost to 8 megapixels, from 5 megapixels, while the rear one stays at 12 megapixels.

8-megapixels selfie camera: The phone has an 8-megapixel front camera which makes your selfies even more lovely.

Galaxy S8 and S8+ size comparison. In both cases, these processors are built on a new 10nm semiconductor manufacturing process, so you're going to see increased power efficiency. The Samsung Galaxy S8 devices come with 64GB of onboard storage with support for UFS 2.1 that would ensure faster file transfers. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ both have IP68 water and dust resistance. While the battery on the Galaxy S8 is 3000 man, the S8plus has a 3500 mAh battery.

Samsung blamed the Galaxy Note 7 crisis on faulty batteries, apologised to consumers for causing concern and was forced to postpone the S8 launch.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are still waterproof and capable of wireless charging, which is good news for those who liked those features on the last Galaxy S generation. The screen covers about 20 per cent more of the phones interface, Selwyn said.

The software is pretty standard Samsung affair, which means that it's customized with the company's skin atop of the latest version of Android - which is Nougat. The new service has a designated button on the device to help users navigate easily through applications and functions using touch, vision and text commands. Note that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the larger S8 Plus are nearly identical except for a few differences. The Galaxy Note 7's iris scanner allows you to open the phone with your eyes and the new phones will offer this tech as well.

What about availability? U.S. consumers will be able to pre-order the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 starting tomorrow, and buy it starting April 21. It will come in black, gray, and silver.
