A typical West Ham slow and sloppy start despite the positive team sheet, five minutes in and Leicester took the lead thanks to a bad goal-keeping mistake, the ball was given away in midfield, a cross from Riyad Mahrez flew straight in past Darren Randolph. The hard work is paramount to success and we have to keep doing that. It's been put to one side, we've parked it.
Riyad Mahrez unintentionally opened the scoring in the 5th minute, his delightful cross into the area was meant to find the head of Shinji Okazaki, but instead crept in at the back post without a touch; a dream start for Leicester. A fantastic Manuel Lanzini free-kick halved the deficit for West Ham.
Leicester reverted to the counter-attacking setup that served them so well last season when they came back out for the second half.
Having traded passes with Mahrez from a free-kick, Marc Albrighton lofted the ball into the danger zone for the onrushing Huth to head home from seven yards.
But Jamie Vardy restored the two-goal cushion before the break and despite another strike from Andre Ayew with plenty of pressure from West Ham in the final half an hour, they were unable to take a point from the encounter.
Andy Carroll headed the set-piece back to Ayew, whose header had enough power to go through Schmeichel.
"We are very disappointed, we fought back and we can talk about a lot of positives, especially from the second half", he told Sky Sports.
"I think he is in the best form I have seen since I have been here. He's pulled out some crucial saves over the last couple of weeks".
"We knew they had momentum, we knew they are a good side who have underachieved this season, but they scored three goals in the first half and it wasn't from chances they created".
"The first goal was very sloppy".
It's no exaggeration to say Craig Shakespeare has had a monumental impact on Leicester City's fortunes this season.
West Ham's chances were not helped by injuries to Winston Reid and Michail Antonio during the match, with Bilic of the opinion that the latter will have to be withdrawn from the England squad due to his hamstring problem.
The loss leaves the Hammers 12 and they have little left to play for with nine games still remaining.
