"We'll have to see defensively when they play Tottenham, City, Chelsea and Arsenal".

It's clear Manchester United don't need Wayne Rooney anymore but the player himself may need the Red Devils, as an exit from Old Trafford would likely see him move to America or China- which would severely affect his opportunities with the worldwide team.

The former England midfielder says there are some sides left in the competition to be wary of, but believes United should have too much for any side they face. "The fans at least love Bastian, he's a special player". But I don't think there's any doubt we'll finish top four.

"They're (United) playing the best out of the top six with Chelsea and you have to fancy them to finish second or third".

"It's something Van Gaal couldn't get out of his head".

Wayne Rooney was a regular starter for Manchester United at the start of the season but consistent poor performances forced Jose Mourinho to bench him.

"Van Gaal signed players who didn't have enough character or presence to play at this club". Sadly, we all don't know what exactly happened.

However, the famous side have played in the Champions League just twice since 2009 and they will be keen to put an end to that poor run. It was what was needed.

He told Republik of Mancunia.: "We don't want that, settling for top four".

"I'm going to get a chance to train at Dortmund which is good".

The former central midfielder, who scored 155 goals and made more than 700 appearances in a United jersey between 1993 and 2013, believes that purchasing either world class forward would make his only club a force to be reckoned with again. Next year will be a totally different ball game.
