Australian Minister of Emigration Peter Dutton says more Sir Lankan students will have education opportunities in Australia in future.

The award recognises his efforts to help Sri Lanka transition from a country traumatized by protracted, violent conflict toward a stable democracy.

Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday confirmed that Victorian fast bowler James Pattinson has been ruled out of the Prime Ministers XI match against Sri Lanka in Canberra on Wednesday.

The ABC reported that Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is visiting Australia, made the statement in a joint press conference with Australia's Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister had requested the High Commissioners of both countries to commence discussions in obtaining the support of the State of Victoria for this goal.

During the official bilateral discussions, Prime Minister Turnbull commended the path that Sri Lanka has entered under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena, to establish economic development, national harmony and reconciliation in the country.

At the meeting in Melbourne it was noted that Sri Lanka's long relationship with Australia has become the root for relations between Sri Lanka and the Australia States. Accordingly, a research will be conducted and a map of mineral resources in the island will be prepared.
