Polk County Fire Rescue and Florida Forest Service are now engaged in putting out the fire near 7200 Highway 630 E in Frostproof.

Nine mobile homes and two single family homes were destroyed in the almost 2,000 acres brush fire that swept through the Indian Lake Estates Wednesday, according the preliminary reports from assessment crews. Fires were also reported in Orange County, Brevard County, Seminole County and Flagler County.

Now, residents are returning home, hoping they still have a home in the wake of the fire.

The evacuation order is for all Indian Lakes Estates residents and the public is being asked to avoid the area.

As of 3 p.m., one house was damaged in the blaze, officials said.

At least one home was damaged in Polk County although officials are still assessing the overall destruction. I can replace that stuff but I can't replace myself'.

Crews used bulldozers in the early morning hours to dig fire lines to deter the flames.

Frazier said it's unclear how the fires started but officials will be investigating.

Several roads including State Road 60 and 11, along with County Road 630, were shut down as authorities warned drivers of the heavy smoke.
