Overwatch Overwatch Hero DLC: New Characters To Be Revealed At Blizzcon 2016?

Blizzard's Overwatch recently soared past 10 million players, and each of those players are probably all thinking the same thing: when are new heroes and maps coming out? Kaplan states that the team is "playtesting it multiple times a day" in order to get competitive play right and are also "looking into/debating putting up a public test realm for this feature so that we can test it in a larger environment before putting it live".

As you'd expect, there are more heroes and more maps in Overwatch's future, many of which are quite far along. The mystery is likely because she might actually be Pharah's mother, which means her real name is Ana Amari and she was part of the original team.

In a post on Blizzard's official forums "Overwatch" game director Jeff Kaplan responded to a poster's question about what is next for the wildly successful new game up until early 2017 and beyond. HOWEVER. "These features are not being worked on heavily right now", he added. "This is a ton of work so would not be on the immediate horizon", he wrote. Blizzard's never had the fastest content turnaround (mostly because of how polished they strive for everything to be), but if they can pull off one new hero and map per month, then that would be awesome.

It also sees the paid game numbers exceeding the extraordinary 9.7 million players that played the free open beta prior to launch. "In our dream world, you could play Custom Games with 11 other people (friends or strangers) with fun rules in play and gain EXP while doing it", he wrote, which has us very excited. "We have some cool ideas of how you could equip more than one spray or voice line". He added there are some prototype maps but couldn't commit to saying they'd be available one day.

The report comes from, and to support rumor about these new Overwatch heroes they have also presented some evidence for it. First up is Sombra who appears in Soldier 76's files, and might possibly be a rival to Agent 76.

In terms of more nitty gritty stuff, Blizzard is looking into improving spectating and highlight functionality, which they say will also help them improve Play Of The Game. There are some that are very far along and others that are just getting started. We can not leave a game as a group. "We'll share more information with you guys so long as you understand none of this is a promise and things do change throughout the course of development".
