The National Football League announced its 2016 preseason schedule today, and the Washington Redskins' four-game slate features their preseason debut on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, their preseason home opener against the New York Jets, a home tilt against the Buffalo Bills and a road finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Miami opens the preseason at home August 25 in a nationally televised game against the Falcons. The only game they will travel to is the one against the Bills in Week 2 of the preseason (the exact date of that contest has yet to be announced).
This is the teams' 48th annual preseason meeting and their fifth MetLife Bowl. The two teams have met 11 times previously in the preseason, a high for the Jaguars. There should be some interesting battles in the secondary - especially at safety - that might not be finalized until this game.
Miami will wrap the pre-season with a two game home swing. The Dolphins are 6-8 all-time against the Falcons in the Preseason and won a meeting last summer 13-9.
The following week, the Redskins will host the Buffalo Bills for their third preseason game for a second time in the last four years.
Miami will once again spend the first two games of the Preseason on the road, giving the team more time to complete renovations on New Miami Stadium (formerly Sun Life Stadium and awaiting a new naming rights deal). The following week, they play at the Washington Redskins.
The Giants played all four of those teams in the regular season previous year, going 2-2. They trail in the preseason series, 25-21-1, with the tie coming in 1972.
