Usually a fine judge of a new signing, Arsene Wenger's winter loan signing in 2014 was not a great success, Spartak Moscow's Kim Kallstrom had been nursing a back injury sustained playing beach football prior to his medical.

Tasci won the 2007 Bundesliga title with Stuttgart and went on to become the club captain and made a total of 181 Bundesliga appearances.

Tasci, 28, will initially join Bayern until the end of the season but the German champions will have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

The Bundesliga leaders expect the defender to be out for the next two or three days and it is unclear whether he will be fit for the runaway Bundesliga leaders' next league match at fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Javi Martinez and Jerome Boateng are among several Bayern players injured.

The Bayern Munich sporting director told the club's official website: "We are glad that for the short term, we have been given the opportunity to bring in a player such as Tasci to Bayern".

"He is capable of moving us forward with his quality and experience". "I hope I can be of assistance to the team".

Tasci has been at Spartak since 2013, starting 16 of their 18 leagues fixtures so far this season, and Bayern paid 2.5 million euros ($2.8 million) fee for his loan.
